Make Your Faux Fur Last Longer

December 26th, 2008 by admin

You must have seen a wide range of stuffed toys that are made of acrylic fur. At times very fine cotton and wool blends are used too but these are very expensive. Faux fur fabric finds its place perfectly as a fashion accessory as well as a home décor enhancer. Hand bags, purses stoles, wraps, hats and gloves come into the former category whereas faux fur blankets, throws, cushions, spreads and surprisingly even bean bags are prominent in the second category.

While the faux fur fabric looks nice, it requires careful looking after to make it last long. For starters, it is a good idea to store the faux fur fabric stuff – be it coats or blankets or throws, in a dry place. Water and dampness can cause a lot of damage to your piece. Make sure your faux fur is cleaned regularly. This will help avoid dirt getting stuck deep inside the fur. You could even get a soft bristled brush meant for clothes and use it often. Brush along the natural grain. This will remove any dust that may have got caught in the hair. You could get the pieces cleaned professionally at intervals. Regular care will keep that faux fur gleaming and looking good for a long time.

Faux Fur Fabric Uses

December 18th, 2008 by admin

Faux fur, a must-have fashion accessory today, was once considered substandard and trashy by the fashion police. Anyone even attempting to wear one was looked down upon in high society. It was a lower class symbol. However, that has changed over the years. In fact nowadays the faux fur looks fake too at times but is considered ‘funky’. It’s true that faux fur can never be as warm as the real thing but let me tell you, it comes a very close second. With the right fibers, padding and lining the faux fur fabric is as warm and comfortable as the weather requires. Even in extreme conditions such as Siberia and Antarctica, faux fur is being preferred to the real fur. This is more so because of the maintenance issues with real fur.

Apart from being used as a wrap, faux fur as a fabric has a whole range of possible uses. From trims on coats and boots to whole faux fur overcoats, from jackets and ladies lingerie to accessories too. The home linen line by itself ranges from bedspreads to cushions, beanbags, throws – the list just goes on and on. There are probably very few objects that cannot be made prettier or warmer with the help of faux fur.

FAUX FUR FABRIC

December 11th, 2008 by admin

The ‘haute’st word used easily today among the fashion savvy society is faux fur. No, there is nothing French about the fur. It just means an imitation fur that’s not as cruel and controversial as its original. In fact the copies are so like the original that it’s not easy to tell them apart.

Thanks to the technology and the ever-popular love for fur, the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) can rest assured that no animal has been raised and killed for its fur and hide. Faux fur is made of very fine acrylic fibers and can be dyed in typical animal patterns and shades.

Faux fur Maintenance

December 4th, 2008 by admin

Owning a fur – original or faux calls for some regular maintenance. Thorough cleaning frequently helps keep away the harm causing dirt and dampness. Every once a while, give your mink or pink faux fur a good brushing along the natural lines with a soft bristled clothes brush. This will rid the fur of all the dust that tends to get attracted to the fur and keep your fur lustrous and shiny.

Remember to keep your mink faux fur products in a dry place. Moisture can ruin the piece. In fact, even though it is faux fur, you should try and avoid wearing it in the rains or in other wet conditions. The water can harm the fur beyond repair! A carefully maintained faux fur can last you a long time.

So, now you know how to get that million-dollar look with out actually spending the million dollars. Just get a mink and pink faux fur and wrap yourself up in its luxurious folds!

For the guys again

November 28th, 2008 by admin

The guys need not feel left out – after all pink is the new black – or so I have heard! You may have heard too that Wyclef Jean, the singer, owns a pink 1957 Cadillac lined with pink mink fur.

So, you may not be in the mood to own a pink car much less line it with pink mink but you could accessorize with pink mink faux fur! You need not go in for the bubblegum pink like the girls would but a subtle light pink or even a very deep bordering on the dark side and visible just a wee little bit!
